WATCH: A look inside the Malta Bake Shop in Toronto

Malta food lovers, this one’s for you! Antoinette and Charlie Buttigieg are two locals living in Toronto, Canada, and run a shop that basically sells all things Maltese: the Malta Bake Shop. In a short YouTube interview, the couple talk about their cute little bake shop in the heart of Toronto.

Charlie says he used to work part-time with the previous owner of the establishment. The guy decided to sell, so Charlie grabbed the opportunity to have the place to himself.  Antoinette reveals she’s always loved baking. “We joined together, he makes the pastizzi and I make the pastries.”

“Everyone who comes in here says it’s like a family dining room,” she says, and judging by the video, it definitely looks homey!

“We make everything that Malta provides. From pastizzi and timpana to fenkata, ravioli,” Charlie says. They also make all the traditional Maltese sweets, including ghaghaq tal-ghasel, qassatelli and biskuttelli.

Charlie reveals that 18 years ago they did something massive. “We introduced pastizzi in the supermarkets,” he says, mentioning a number of places they’re available. Antoinette also reveals that their bake shop, particularly pastizzi are also requested for all types of occasions in Toronto, be it baptism parties, Holy Communions, weddings, even funerals! Can you believe it?
