Local pop star Ira Losco took to social media to call out the health authorities over the ‘unjust’ relaxing of COVID-19 vaccine certificate rules.

Only yesterday, Health Minister Chris Fearne announced that Malta will be partially scrapping said rules. From 7th February, patrons of restaurants, snack bars, and kazini will no longer need to present their vaccine certificate upon entry.

These rules will, however, remain in place for sports events, casinos, nightclubs, and travel.

“Very disappointed that music and sport as always will be suffering the injustice of not having equal measures as some other sectors. I would like to ask ‘why?’,” Ira wrote.

“The reason and logic (or lack of) behind it will always baffle me,” she continued.

Minister Fearne also said that, as of 14th February, vaccine certificate rules will be scrapped for bars, gyms, pools, cinemas, and theatres.

Tens of readers took to Ira Losco’s post’s comments section to sound their support.

“Same goes for weddings,” noted one commenter, “cannot believe that, until now, no restrictions were changed when it comes to weddings but it’s ok to have parties!”

“It’s ok to go to a packed restaurant, yet you still have to wear a mask and present your vaccine certificate when visiting an open-air football pitch,” added another.

What do you think of Ira’s comments?
