Valletta crowned World’s Best City in Condé Nast Traveller’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards
Just a day after being named Europe’s Best City, Valletta has now gone one step further – taking the number one spot globally in Condé Nast Traveller’s prestigious Readers’ Choice Awards 2025.
The annual awards celebrate the best destinations, hotels, and experiences around the world, as voted by the publication’s readers – over 182,000 travel enthusiasts this year. Valletta stood out for its mix of history, culture, and modern Mediterranean charm over a comparatively tiny area, securing its place as the world’s most admired city.
From its golden-hued Baroque streets to its breathtaking harbours and vibrant cultural scene, it’s no surprise that Valletta has captured the hearts of travellers everywhere. Condé Nast Traveller described it as ‘small but mighty’, calling it a ‘tiny jewel in the Mediterranean’ that glows with timeless beauty.
But Valletta’s moment in the spotlight doesn’t end here. Next year, the city will welcome the 26th edition of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit – the largest tourism event ever to take place in the Maltese Islands.
Happening between 30th September and 2nd October 2026, the summit will bring together leading voices from across the global travel industry to discuss the future of tourism, with a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and investment.
