Two traditions in one bite! Local bakery launches the ‘Maltese Maduma Figolla’
Classic figolla with a Maltese aesthetic

Francesca Vella

Easter may still be a month away, but figolli fever has already begun! The beloved almond-filled pastries are popping up everywhere, bringing with them the sweet taste of tradition. But one particular figolla is turning heads - and for good reason!

Local bakery Sirena Delicious Bites has brought back a stunning creation - the Maltese Maduma Figolla, a delightful fusion the traditional Easter treat and the beautifully intricate Maltese tile (locally known as 'maduma').

Unlike the usual figolli shapes - lambs, rabbits, or the classic 'qoffa' (basket), these figolli are carefully crafted to resemble the colorful, decorative patterns of traditional Maltese tiles. Each one is a work of art, with delicate details in various hues of coloured icing that add a touch of nostalgia to this festive delicacy.

If you’re eager to get your hands on one, the bakery is already taking pre-orders!

Would you try one of these edible masterpieces?
