Turning yarn into history! Ħal Għaxaq sets new local record with tallest crochet Christmas tree
A new national record has been revealed in Ħal Għaxaq, where The Malta Records officially recognised the tallest Christmas tree crafted entirely from crochet.
Measuring an impressive 10.50 metres in height and 3.25 metres in width, the installation now stands proudly in front of the Ħal Għaxaq parish church.
The project surpasses a previous record set five years ago, marking a fresh achievement for the locality.
The initiative was led by the Ħal Għaxaq Local Council in collaboration with the Għaxaq Craft Club and was launched as part of the opening of ‘Mixegħla tal-Milied fil-Pjazza’ festivities in Pjazza Santa Marija.
Under the direction of mayor Karl Boxall, the community effort brought together skilled crafters and volunteers whose work has been warmly received by residents and visitors alike.
