The DOI has reported that the fast ferry service connecting Valletta and Mġarr has officially hit a major milestone: for the first time since the service launched, more than one million passengers have used the fast ferry within a single year! Between January and November alone, over 1,150,000 passengers made the trip, marking a record-breaking 2025 and a significant increase compared to last year’s numbers.

The figures show just how essential this route has become for commuters, locals, and travellers alike, as more and more use both this service and the vehicle-carrying service between Ċirkewwa and the same Gozo port at Mġarr.

New routes are set to launch next year, with fast ferry links to Gozo planned from Sliema and Buġibba, effectively doubling the connections between Malta and Gozo.

Have you used the fast ferry yet?
