Malta’s beloved fashion designers Charles and Ron Van Maarschalkerweerd Borg of Charles & Ron are showing customers they support sustainable fashion.

The pair travelled to a factory in India last week and posted a photo on Facebook with a team of workers. They used the tag #whomademyclothes to show their support for a global movement led by Fashion Revolution, which is striving to make the industry safer and cleaner.

As well as posting a photo, the caption said: “Starting your own fashion company is not easy and sourcing of production can be very difficult too. Many are unaware of the long process that goes on behind the scenes, and what it involves. Our clothing and accessories are produced in Malta, Gozo, Italy, UK, Turkey and also India.”

“Last week (we) visited the clothing factory in India to work on new collections with the team but also to make sure working conditions are up to standard. Factory owner Veena has many years of experience in the textile industry but was able - through our commitment - to set up her own company. She employs a team of skilled men that produce part of our clothing collections. We are very happy to share this picture with you, of the people that make your clothes!

The designers are also preparing to set up a third store in Malta, a year after opening a second flagship store in Valletta.

Keep up the great work guys!
