Feast your eyes on Manuel’s designs!

It wouldn’t be Eastertime in Malta without dozens of jaw-dropping figolli flooding our social media feeds and filling our tummies – but this one chef’s take on the traditional Maltese delicacy has stuck out from the rest…

Throughout the past couple of weeks, Maltese chef and TV presenter Manuel has been blessing us with image after image of his homemade figolli-with-a-twist.

Not only are Manuel’s figolli constructed with the utmost care and filled with the best possible ingredients, but they also show off some stunning, edible scenes related to Malta.

His first figolla from the ‘Maltese Artisan Collection 2022’ was aptly named Il-Luzzu as it perfectly encapsulates the traditional Maltese boat in all its colourful glory.

Since sharing his first figolla with his growing audience back on 8th March, Manuel’s collection has amassed twelve different designs.

From traditional Maltese tiles and bizzilla, to prickly pears and a local door knocker (habbata), Manuel’s figolli perfectly encapsulate all of Malta’s iconic symbols.

Feast your eyes on some more of his designs:

Speaking to his followers in a video, Manuel unfortunately noted that he is unable to take order for said figolli at this point in time, primarily since his house is undergoing some serious refurbishments meaning that he can’t use his kitchen.

Guess we’ll just have to make do with seeing them for now!

Earlier today, Manuel teased the design for his next artisanal figolla, writing:

“Good morning everyone. Tomorrow I will launch another figolla design. We have a door and the door knockers. What else do we need to get in?”

What do you think Manuel’s next ‘figolla’ is going to look like?
