Time for a swim? Here are the beaches deemed jellyfish-safe today
It's getting hot in here!

Malta's in for a scorcher today with temperatures feeling as high as 35°C! There's no better way to cool down on a hot summer day than having a dip into the sea, but with jellyfish never far off which bays are safest today?

According to local Facebook page Maltese Islands Weather, these are the likeliest beaches to be devoid of the pesky sea creatures as well as rough seas:

Malta: Gnejna Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha, Golden Bay, Anchor Bay, Paradise Bay, Marfa, Ramla l-Bir, Little Armier, Armier Bay, Mellieha, Imgiebah, Mistra Bay, Bahar ic-Caghak, St Paul's Bay, St George's Bay and Rinella Bay.
Gozo: Marsalforn, Ramla l-Hamra, San Blas and Dwejra.

This forecast is based on wind direction, wind speed, wave direction, swell direction and sea surface currents and indicates bays which are highly likely to be safe. The page admin took to Facebook to explain that: "This does not mean that only these bays are safe. It is possible that other beaches are also safe to swim in."

Outlining that jellyfish can easily stray off course, or be caught in a localised unforeseen current, it was highlighted that jellyfish can easily get stuck in bays due to moderately high winds in past days.

"Comino's Blue Lagoon is exposed to several wind directions and jellyfish are normally present on one or both sides of the bay on most days. Also, the heavy boat traffic around the bay, coupled by tricky topography, creates unpredictable local currents which can influence the movement of jellyfish."
