The displays are insane! Photos from last year’s Santa Marija feast in Mqabba prove they rule the sky
You can experience it all this Wednesday 14th August.
Mqabba is considered among the top localities in Malta for its spectacular and stunning fireworks displays, and this week, along with several other towns and villages across Malta and Gozo, it’s pulling out all the stops for the feast of St Mary.
Officially named the Socjeta Santa Marija u Banda Re Gorg V, this band club leaves no stone unturned to put on a display of light that stuns anyone who visits.
In recent years, Socjeta Santa Marija has outdone itself with the Tower of Light, a 57-metre high tower loaded with explosives that illuminate the night skies, and this year will be no different.
From creative formations to glorious colours, here are some photos from last year’s displays which will give you a taster of what to expect at the feast this week.
1. Before the big show
*Handle with care*
2. Ring of fire
Have you ever seen anything this breath-taking?
3. Fascinating combinations
Mind = blown!
4. Tower of light
What a stunning night sky.
5. The Maltese cross
Artistry and patriotism at its best.
6. A feast for the eyes
We could look at this all day.
This year’s show is taking place on Wednesday 14th August at 9.30pm at the Mqabba by-pass.
