The beginning of a new era? Valletta’s Zero Sei Trattoria looking for a new home in the capital
Zero Sei owner says he will choose Valletta time and time again.

If you’re a huge fan of Valletta’s Zero Sei and their authentic delicious carbonara, you might have heard that the iconic restaurant is looking to find a new place to call home in Valletta.

At GuideMeMalta, we swiftly reached out to Fausto Soldini, the visionary behind Zero Sei, to delve deeper into his mission to secure a new location for this beloved restaurant.

Rest assured, he's still planning on staying in Valletta, with no intention of relocating elsewhere. However, maintaining a restaurant in this beautiful city does present its unique set of challenges.

He wants to stay in Valletta as the majority of his clients are Maltese residents. In addition to the locals who make special trips to Valletta just to dine at his restaurant, he also attracts many working in Valletta who flock to Zero Sei for his mouthwatering pasta dishes, either during or after their work hours.

He goes on to explaining that very often rent in Valletta is “like Montecarlo or Milan”. As he looks for a new location, he revealed that some places are asking for up to €350 in rent per day. He left Rome for this exact same problem but now “rent is higher in Valletta than it is in Rome”.

Apart from rent, Fausto goes on to explain how many establishments in Valletta face logistical and operational challenges. With that said, the charm the capital outweighs the various obstacles and it is for this reason that the Zero Sei owner will choose Valletta time and time again.

And while the restaurant's current location in Theatre Street has been a true gem for the past 10 years, Fausto is open to exploring other alternatives within the capital. He goes on to say how proud he is to have seen Zero Sei become such a staple in Valletta and is looking forward to continue welcoming diners for his delicious carbonara for many years to come!
