The 2023 results are out! Fernandõ Gastrotheque receives One MICHELIN Star
The other five restaurants that were awarded One MICHELIN Star last year have retained the award

This year’s edition of the highly anticipated MICHELIN Guide Malta has finally been launched, and it’s brought along some new additions!

The guide features 35 restaurants situated all around Malta and Gozo, six of which have been awarded One MICHELIN Star and four of which have been awarded a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand. The remaining 25 restaurants are a part of the MICHELIN Guide Malta 2023.

MICHELIN Stars are awarded to the best restaurants around the world, with a single restaurant being capable of receiving anywhere from one to three stars at one time. This honour remains bestowed upon an establishment for a year, after which point inspectors re-assess the restaurants.

The Bib Gourmand, whilst not quite a star, is still an extremely prestigious title. Such an honour recognises friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices.

Now, onto the winners…

Fernandõ Gastrotheque in Sliema has received a One MICHELIN Star for the first time. All five restaurants that were awarded One MICHELIN Star in last year’s edition of the guide have retained their status. The restaurants are as follows: Under Grain (Valletta), Noni (Valletta), ION – The Harbour (Valletta), De Mondion (Mdina), and Bahia (Balzan).

Last year's MICHELIN Bib Gourmand restaurants have retained their title. These are Grain Street (Valletta), Terrone (Birgu), Rubino (Valletta), and Commando (Mellieha).

Five new additions have been made to the MICHELIN Guide Malta: Legligin (Valletta), Rosami (St Julian’s), Grotto Tavern (Rabat, Malta), Giuseppi's (Naxxar) and LOA (St Paul's Bay).

The remaining restaurants on the guide are as follows:

  • Briju (Gzira)
  • Guze (Valletta)
  • The Harbour Club (Valletta)
  • 59 Republic (Valletta)
  • Aaron's Kitchen (Valletta)
