The 10 very real stages every local experiences when walking into a Primark store
Guilty as charged!

If you’re Maltese and have been to the UK at least once, you know what’s coming. A Primark is THE ONE STORE every local will make a beeline for. #Obvs. Admit it, you’ve experienced this before. Here are 10 stages every Maltese person lives through when walking into this department store.

1. Heaven!

The land of endless racks of all sorts of clothing for every occasion. Let’s get cracking!

2. Browsing

You look around to first get a lay of the land and strategise your shopping spree! You start spotting cute items from across the room and you’re already getting pumped.

3. Grab a basket, the time has come!

Let’s face it, you’ll be picking out loads of things (that you may or may not need), so a big basket is what you need.

4. Do I really need this?

Ah, that faithful question. At a Primark store, the answer is always YES. You’re on a spree, baby! It’s splurge time!

5. You get to the ‘movie section’

There’s all the latest (and classic) prints on tees, long-sleeved tops, dresses and pants: Marvel, Friends, Queen, Star Wars, Harry Potter – you name it, it’s there (and we’re picking out our size).

6. Omg – DISNEY!

Primark always has a stocked-up Disney section with tees, dresses, PJs and underwear sporting different characters, and this Disney nerd ain’t complaining. (Yes, I’ve bought all of these items before #guilty).

7. That last pair of size 37 sliders

You spot the last pair of awesome baby blue sliders (#extra) and dash towards the rack before you get into a fight a la Maltija with the lady eyeing them, too. Sorry sister, you snooze you lose.

8. Nic-Nacs

You’re waiting in the long queue to pay for your new stash of outfits when oooh! Hair ties! And lip blam! Oh, makeup wipes, too! You basically grab one of each and add them to your already heavy bag.

9. The fright of your life (sort of)

LAWD HAVE MERCY, THAT BILL! You went overboard just a smidge and the total is a little cray cray. But, is it really that surprising when you’ve got so much shit on the counter?

10. The biggest challenge of the day

You know you’ve bought tonnes when the cashier needs to bag your items in not one but TWO paper bags. Now, the biggest questions is: how are you going to carry all this stuff back to the hotel?

Have you been to a Primark store lately?
