One of Valletta’s most staple and legendary spots, ‘Tal-Hwawar’ spice shop, is expanding and opening a coffee shop that will be serving traditional Maltese coffee and tea.

The coffee shop can be found right next door to the original shop on Saint Christoper’s Street and has been appropriately named ‘Tal-Kafe’.

There, customers will be served by Keith, a barista expert as they enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in a classical Maltese setting.

The spice shop was about to close down just last December after it had been open for over 135 years. However, the shop's story went viral on social media, convincing the owner, Johann Farrugia to give the shop one last go.

The announcement was met with a lot of positive reactions with many people looking forward to visiting soon.
