Transport Malta has issued a safety warning for the area around Il-Ponta tal-Imġerbeb following inspections that confirmed ongoing risks of falling rocks and debris.
According to the authority, recent assessments show that the cliffside remains highly unstable, with several large rocks and loose material still overhanging the shoreline. These conditions create the possibility of further minor collapses, particularly in the caves and areas directly beneath the cliffs.
With the busy summer season approaching and increased activity expected in and around Grand Harbour, Transport Malta is urging kayakers, boaters and small craft users to exercise extreme caution.
The authority specifically advises against approaching the caves located beneath the cliffs at Il-Ponta tal-Imġerbeb, as these areas remain particularly vulnerable to falling debris.
Transport Malta is reminding all sea users to maintain a safe distance from cliff faces and to strictly observe any restricted zones that may be in place. Boaters are encouraged to consult the official Local Notices to Mariners published on the Transport Malta website for the latest safety information and navigational guidance before heading out to sea.
Take care!
