Malta Public Transport has announced special bus services to support the national New Year’s Eve celebrations taking place in Valletta on 31st December 2025, making it easier and safer for the public to travel to and from the capital on one of the busiest nights of the year.

For the occasion, additional trips will be operated on 16 regular routes as well as five night routes. These enhanced services will run late into the night, ensuring that revellers can arrive at the Valletta bus terminus in good time to enjoy the celebrations, and return home conveniently once events come to an end.

The special New Year’s Eve services will be free of charge for passengers who hold a personalised Tallinja Card. Other passengers will be able to purchase a €3 ticket directly on board the bus, with payments accepted in both cash and contactless formats. This initiative aims to encourage the use of public transport and reduce traffic congestion in and around Valletta during the festivities.

Malta Public Transport has also issued important notices regarding services during the festive period. All sales offices and customer care services will be closed on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. On these days, bus services will be suspended between 12.00 and 15.00 to allow employees time to celebrate with their families. In addition, services will stop from 21.00 onwards.

Passengers are strongly advised to plan their journeys in advance.

For updates and further information, the public is encouraged to follow Malta Public Transport’s official communication channels.
