Valletta Ferry Services has announced a temporary suspension of ferry operations between Valletta and the Three Cities on Friday, 18th October, due to the Rolex Middle Sea Race.

The service will be halted from 9am to 3pm, or until the last boat participating in the race departs from the Grand Harbour. Normal ferry operations are expected to resume as soon as the port is clear.

Gozo Highspeed also posted on their social media pages announcing port closures for the day. Their first and last trips are expected to be busy, so they strongly recommend booking ahead. Normal service will resume at 3.45pm from both sides.

The Rolex Middle Sea Race is one of Malta’s most prestigious annual sporting events, attracting international yachts and sailing enthusiasts from around the world. The race’s spectacular start from Valletta’s Grand Harbour is a highlight of the local maritime calendar, drawing large crowds to the waterfront and surrounding bastions to witness the impressive fleet setting sail.

Commuters are encouraged to plan their travel in advance and consider alternative transport options during the affected hours.

The Rolex Middle Sea Race not only highlights Malta’s deep maritime heritage but also showcases the island’s role as a world-class sailing destination.
