Sunny days! Sunshine and rising temperatures signal early start to Maltese summer
Summer is on the way!

After several days of unsettled weather conditions, sunshine is set to make a welcome return from Monday as temperatures across the central Mediterranean begin a steady climb towards true summer conditions.

In fact, according to Facebook page, Maltese Islands Weather, forecasts indicate that temperatures could rise above 28°C by next weekend, with even hotter weather expected before the end of May.

The improving conditions are being driven by the strengthening and gradual expansion of the north African anticyclone across the Mediterranean region. This large high-pressure system, which typically dominates the summer months, is now beginning to establish itself more firmly, bringing greater atmospheric stability, clearer skies, and significantly warmer temperatures.

Meteorologists say this seasonal shift is one of the clearest signs that summer is approaching, particularly now that the region has entered the second half of May. As the anticyclone expands further north, residents can expect longer periods of sunshine, calmer weather, and an increasingly noticeable summer feel throughout the week.

Current projections suggest temperatures may continue rising steadily over the coming days and could even reach or exceed the 30°C mark before the month comes to an end. While summer is still officially several weeks away, the atmosphere is already showing strong indications that the central Mediterranean could be heading towards a particularly long and hot season.

The return of warmer weather is expected to encourage more outdoor activity and beachgoers, as many begin preparing for what could be one of the hottest summers in recent years.

Are you loving this return to warmer weather?
