Step into history! Fort St Angelo is bringing the medieval era to life this December
It’s all happening on the 1st of December.
Heritage Malta is offering a unique chance to start December with an unforgettable journey through time. On Sunday, 1st December 2024, Fort St Angelo will transform into a living snapshot of its medieval past, reviving the grandeur of the 15th century.
Picture yourself in the year 1400, standing before the formidable Castrum Maris, the predecessor of today’s Fort St Angelo. Perched over Malta’s Grand Harbour, the fort was a bustling hub of activity, home to soldiers, merchants, and skilled craftsmen.
Visitors to this special event will have the opportunity to experience history firsthand, with the sounds of clashing swords, the twang of crossbows, and the vibrant atmosphere of medieval life.
The event, curated by the Historical Re-enactment Group of Malta (HRGM), will bring to life various aspects of the Castrum Maris era. Detailed re-enactments will showcase the weapons and supplies used within the fort, as well as the daily lives of its diverse community.
From soldiers perfecting their battle techniques to merchants and craftsmen plying their trades, visitors will gain a vivid understanding of the fort’s historical significance.
Re-enactments will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, and standard Heritage Malta admission fees apply. Tickets can be purchased online through Heritage Malta’s official store or at any of their museums or sites.
