Start the weekend right! Malta’s top beaches flying the green flag today
Don't forget the sunblock!

After a few weeks of gusty winds and choppy seas, calm waters have finally returned to Malta, and with them, safer swimming conditions across much of the island.

While it’s always important to check the specific beach you’re visiting for any red flags or notices from lifeguards, today the Malta Red Cross has confirmed that the following beaches are flying the coveted green flag:

  • Għadira (Mellieħa Bay)
  • Perched Beach, Buġibba
  • Qawra Point
  • St George’s Bay
  • Balluta Bay
  • Fond Għadir (Sliema)
  • Fajtata (Marsaskala)
  • San Gorg & Pretty Bay (Birżebbuġa)
  • Ġnejna Bay
  • Għajn Tuffieħa
  • Golden Bay

A green flag signals that currents are mild, making the sea safer for swimmers, though it’s still wise to remain cautious and swim within designated areas.

That said, MaltaWeather.com has issued a heads-up for jellyfish sightings, particularly in bays along the eastern coast. If you’re heading to those spots, keep your eyes peeled for any floating stingers to avoid an unwelcome surprise.

Enjoy your Friday dip!
