The pope hugely advocated for devotion towards Holy Mary.
The papal liturgical vestments of Pope St Pius V are being brought to Malta to commemorate the 450th anniversary of his demise.
These relics are going to be exhibited for public veneration at Valletta’s St John’s Co-Cathedral until 10th November 2022.

Pope Pius V was a Dominican friar who was elected to the papacy in 1566 and remained a pope until his death in 1572.
During his tenure, the pope had strong connections to Malta as he was a great benefactor to our capital city, Valletta, when it was being built.

It’s therefore only right that his sacred relics are displayed in a city in which he greatly invested in.
He is also remembered for heavily promoting the devotion towards Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.

The public may venerate the sacred relics before and after the daily celebration of Holy Mass.
His pontificate will be celebrated on two occasions: a commemorative event with musical interludes and reflections on Friday 21st October at 7:30pm and a solemn Pontifical Mass presided by H.G. Archbishop Mgr Charles Jude Scicluna on Sunday 30th October at 9:30am.
The mass, which will also be broadcast on TVM, is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
