Health Minister and Deputy PM Chris Fearne and MEP Roberta Metsola are both backing a proposal for EU-wide “vaccine passports” to facilitate travel across Europe for those who received a COVID-19 jab.

Based on Fearne’s post on social media, it seems the health minister is in favour of such a proposal that could greatly help tourism everywhere. The meeting was held between EU Health Minister, the EU Health Commissioner, together with reps from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

In a post on Facebook, Roberta Metsola is also backing the proposal saying it’s the “next step” so that “economies can open up safely. “The COVID-19 vaccine showed the triumph of science and working together, but we urgently need to improve its roll-out to make sure those who need it the most receive it and receive it quickly. Our health, our economy and the speed of our recovery depends on it.”
