Skywatchers across Malta were recently treated to the striking sight of a glowing red moon illuminating the night sky.

Local photographer Marika Caruana managed to capture the spectacular lunar display in a series of eye-catching photographs from different locations around the island.

One of the standout images was taken on Saturday evening in Marsaxlokk, where the moon appeared perfectly positioned behind the Delimara Lighthouse, creating a dramatic silhouette.

This local photographer also snapped the vivid red moon on 31st August as it rose beside the Cathedral of the East in Żejtun, producing another breathtaking composition that highlighted one of Malta's most recognisable landmarks.

What a sight!
