Rain, thunder, and strong winds: This week’s got some whacky weather in store for Malta
September has already brought about way more rain than we’re used to at this time of year.
Temperatures are cooler, skies are cloudier, and winds are stronger; it’s safe to say that autumnal weather won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
Last week’s heavy rains hammered the final nail in summer 2022’s coffin – and it seems like Mother Nature has plenty more whacky weather in store for the Maltese islands.
That’s right! According to the Malta International Airport’s (MIA) seven-day forecast, showers are expected to hit the islands on three separate occasions this week.

Wednesday 28th September should bring about the first rain of the week, together with temperatures as low as 21°C (the week’s coldest).
Fast forward to Friday 30th September, and Malta should be getting hit by some thundery showers, says the Maltese Islands Weather Facebook page, so make sure to dress accordingly.
The day’s also on track to bring along South-eastern winds as strong as Force Six.
This week’s final bout of rain is expected to hit the islands on Saturday 1st October, with MIA predicting ‘isolated showers’ for the day.
Rain aside, Maltese Islands Weather is predicting that temperatures will feel as cold as 18°C on Thursday 29th.
September has already brought about way more rain than the islands are used to, and it’s all thanks to the storm that hit the islands on the night of the 22nd.
Maltese Islands Weather had revealed how “the national mean of 65.6mm measured over 24 hours surpassed the climate average for the whole of September by almost 50 per cent.”
