MaltaPost is back with a brand-new philatelic stamp issue that’s bound to have you feline excited. Introducing the ‘CATS Series II’ collection, a set of four postage stamps celebrating our beloved feline friends across the Maltese Islands.
Available from Friday 4th April at all Post Offices in Malta and Gozo, this collection captures the charm and beauty of different cat breeds, each set against a picturesque Maltese backdrop. Created by talented local artist Andrew Micallef, these stamps are a tribute to Malta’s deep affection for cats while infusing art, culture, and history into these miniature masterpieces.
Meet the stars of the collection:
€0.20 Stamp – The Calico Cat at Cittadella
An orange calico cat lounges peacefully in the Gozitan countryside, with the historic Cittadella standing majestically in the background. With its tri-coloured coat of white, orange, and black, this long-haired beauty is not only a sight to behold but is also considered a symbol of good luck! Did you know? Almost all calico cats are female!
€0.45 Stamp – The White Tabby at Marsaxlokk
This elegant white tabby cat is depicted lying gracefully near the picturesque fishing village of Marsaxlokk, with the Our Lady of Pompei Church towering above. Sporting a classic ‘tabby and white’ coat pattern, this kitty knows that the fish market at Marsaxlokk is the place to be on a Sunday.
€1.00 Stamp – The Orange Tabby at Mgarr Harbour
Taking centre stage on this stamp is a playful orange tabby perched on an ornate wrought iron bench, set against the Mgarr Harbour and Our Lady of Lourdes chapel. Known for their striped ginger coats, these affectionate felines have a personality as bold as their colour!
€1.91 Stamp – The Tuxedo Cat at Siggiewi
Dressed to impress, this long-haired tuxedo cat is seen gazing proudly towards the village of Siggiewi, with the grand St Nicholas Parish Church in the distance. With its signature black-and-white ‘formal wear’ coat, the tuxedo cat is one of the most recognisable and beloved feline patterns – think Felix the Cat or Sylvester!
Thinking of sending a letter to a cat lover? They’d be thrilled to see an envelope with one of these beauties!
