The visit was originally scheduled to take place in May 2020.
A papal visit is something all devout Catholics across the islands have been eagerly waiting for…
Pope Francis was set to make his first visit to Malta in May 2020, however those plans were delayed following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
After years of postponements however, the Times of Malta reported that Pope Francis will now be visiting Malta on 2nd and 3rd April.
This makes him the third pope to visit the islands, with St John Paul II having visited Malta in 1990 and 2001, and Pope Benedict XVI having paid us a visit in 2010.
No schedule of the pope’s plans whilst in Malta has been announced yet.
