Looking for a delicious plate of original and true Italian Carbonara here in Malta? You have got you covered.

As part of our efforts to find all the best dishes across Malta and Gozo’s restaurant, we have asked GuideMeMalta.com readers to tell us their favourite spots for Carbonara.

The locals have spoken and according to them these are the top spots for Carbonara:

1. Zero Sei, Valletta

As authentic as you can possibly get this trattoria is owned by Italians from Rome and their Carbonara is cooked to perfection.

2. Olive 3, Birkirkara

Served in a metal skillet, this was by far the restaurant that got the most votes by our readers. You’ll understand why by simply looking at the photo below.

3. Smugglers, Hal-Balzan

There has not been one single person who tried Smugglers’ Carbonara and has been left disappointed.

4. Osteria Scottadito, Gozo

At the time of writing, this Italian owned restaurant is undergoing some renovations but they’ll soon reopen. So, if you’re heading to the sister island of Gozo you know where you have to go!

5. Stanjata, Birkirkara

The ideal go-to lunch spot for when you’re craving that Carbonara that will leave you wanting more.

6. Nduja Osteria, Valletta

Located right in the heart of the local city of Valletta, here you’ll get the chance to enjoy the fresh homemade pasta Carbonara of your dreams.

7. Goloso, St Julians

Described as having a Carbonara pasta that is ‘exactly like Roma’ by one of our readers, you should definitely head to Balluta in St Julian’s to try this out.

8. La Crema, St Julian’s

A tantalising Carbonara dish served with rigatoni pasta.
