Past meets present: Chris Ebejer launches new exhibition at stunning Jesuits’ Church
The exhibition coincides with the historic church’s recent reopening

Past and present will meet at the Jesuits’ Church in Valletta through a new exhibition by Maltese sculptor Chris Ebejer.

Echoes of Now will take place in the church’s magnificent oratory, coinciding with its recent reopening following an extensive restoration project.

It promises a dialogue between Ebejer’s expressive figurative sculptures – through materials such as bronze, marble and terracotta – and one of Malta’s most significant sacred spaces.

Originally built by the Jesuit Order between the late 1500s and early 1600s, it is located near the Old University Building, which was once a Jesuit college. As such, the Jesuits’ Church is sometimes known as the birthplace of the University of Malta.

Chris Ebejer’s exhibition is curated by art historian Paolo Giansiracusa, and is supported by the Jesuit Church Foundation.

Echoes of Now opens on 2nd May and runs until 7th June.
