‘Not what I was expecting!’- International food vlogger showcases her favourite typical Maltese foods
She loved every single dish she tried!

Emma Galea

London based food vlogger, Nicola Easterby, from the social media food blog @polkadotpassport has recently visited Malta and reviewed all the traditional Maltese dishes that she has tried.

It comes as no surprise that she had nothing but amazing things to say about Malta’s delicious food.

She obviously started off with none other than Malta’s favourite delicacy, a pastizz. She tried both the ricotta and the peas pastizzi which she dubbed as “both equally delicious”.

A trip to Malta is not complete without tasting a traditional Maltese ftira which she had with olives, capers and tuna.

Anyone who knows anything about Malta knows how much the Maltese love a good old fashioned braised rabbit so Nicola had to try it. It looked like she absolutely loved it!

For her afternoon snacks, Nicola tasted the local Gozitan produced gbejna and stated the ones covered in pepper were her favourite. After all, who could possibly eat a gbejna and not love it?

Nicola’s dessert consisted of the traditional Maltese imqaret. She could not have made a better choice!

She finished her trip with the typical Maltese Octopus stew that she washed down with a refreshing bottle of Kinnie.

The food vlogger enjoyed a good variety of Maltese dishes but we could not help but notice that some traditional Maltese food staples were missing. These include bigilla, imqarun, timpana, aljotta, horse meat and many others.

What other Maltese dish would have liked to see her try?
