Nostalgic throwback! This is how Maltese taxis looked like back in the 1980s
The car shown is a classic ford!

Back in the 1980’s, taxis operated in a very different manner from the way they do now, but this photo, captured in 1987, shows just exactly how much things have changed.

During these times, no external companies were used to call taxis from applications on people’s phones.

Most taxis were white and found only at the main places and tourist attractions around Malta and Gozo.

In fact, the photos shared by Gavin Ronald Upstill on Nostalgia Malta, show the white taxis patiently waiting in Valletta for customers to request a ride.

Although white taxis still exist nowadays, they are nowhere near being the only taxi options available today.

The cars pictured are classic Fords, which are now only a sight for lucky eyes on Malta’s roads.
