Feel the Shetland winds, whales, and waves while rooted at Spazju Kreattiv.
If you love sound, atmosphere, and are in the mood to slow down and really listen, you’ll want to check out Nordic Resonance at Spazju Kreattiv, taking place on Friday 30th January at 8pm. This immersive performance brings the wild, windswept landscapes of the Shetland Islands straight to Malta, through a mix of live electronics, percussion, flute, and field recordings.
Created by Emmy-nominated Maltese sound artist Renzo Spiteri and Scottish flautist Richard Craig, the show is inspired by Shetland’s birds, whales, wind, and ever-changing coastline. Every note and sound are shaped by the environment itself, turning the performance space into a living, breathing slice of the north.
After the performance, there’s a Q&A with Renzo and Richard, moderated by artist and curator Vince Briffa, where you can share your thoughts, ask questions, and hear more about how the piece came together.
After the busy buzz of the festive season, here’s a chance to experience the contrast between Shetland’s vast, open soundscape and Malta’s lively city sounds, all in one intimate setting. Read up on the performing artists and get your tickets here.
Ever wondered what Shetland sounds like?
