The central town of Naxxar has come to be known for its lively café culture over the years, particularly around the main square, and as of this week, a new café has joined the fray, giving locals another option to hit for their coffee fix!

Opening its doors for the first time just yesterday, Celestina Café on Labour Avenue is instantly recognisable from its bright blue colour scheme, which is displayed on its traditional doors and carries on inside.

The local elements don’t stop there however – as you step inside, one of the first things you notice is the colourful patterned tiles – a modern take on traditional Maltese patterned tiles.

Set alongside a beautifully converted townhouse, Celestina offers another great option in the town to chill with a coffee and a quick bite to eat. Their counters display a tempting array of sweet and savoury options, from sandwiches and savoury pastries to cakes and sweet confections.

Being figolli season, we couldn’t resist sampling the mini figolli on offer, and let’s just say, they went down a treat!

The affable servers tell us that Celestina is open every day for lunch, drinks and coffee, closing a little early, at 1pm, on Sundays, so if you’re in the area, be sure to check out Naxxar’s newest coffee spot!
