Naval disaster! Maltese-flagged €18m megayacht almost sinks just off the Greek coast
A video has surfaced on social media showing the moment that the 45 metre-long megayacht ‘Ethos’, registered in Malta and thus bearing the Maltese flag, began to sink off the coast of Kefalonia in Greece. This massive Italian vessel is worth over 18 million euros, costing over €200,000 a week to rent.
It later emerged that one of the crew members accidentally left a door wide open and didn’t have time to close it once the weather became unfavourable. This allowed seawater to begin seeping onto the vessel, forcing those aboard to abandon ship.
Luckily the megayacht was pulled to safety, and all those aboard, including the crew members, managed to disembark safely without any injuries.
The megayacht had just undergone a complete interior renovation before the accident, boasting five cabins, an onboard gym, deck jacuzzi and even jet skis!
Fingers crossed for the recovery of the impressive ‘Ethos’!
