One of Malta’s newest stamp issues puts a spotlight on some of the country’s favourite national drinks.
Aptly titled ‘Local Beverages’, this set consists of four different stamps and is a joint issue between MaltaPost and SEPAC (the Small European Postal Administration Cooperation).
Each stamp features a bottle in the foreground, set against a colourfully illustrated backdrop of different spots around the island.

The beverages featured in the stamps are Kinnie, one of Malta’s best-known non-alcoholic soft drinks, the local Gellewza grape wine, Marsovin’s Bajtra liqueur, and Lord Chambray’s San Blas craft beer.
The Kinnie bottle in questions sports a retro label and bottle design and is set against a seascape. Delicata’s Gellewza wine, on the other hand, is placed atop a table in front of the iconic Valletta landscape, set apart by the towering dome of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
The Bajtra liqueur is placed next to a prickly pear plant – the very same plant which produces the bajtra, whilst the San Blas beer is set in front of an illustration of Nadur’s idyllic San Blas beach.
The Kinnie, Gellewza, Bajtra Liqueur, and San Blas stamps are worth €0.37, €0.57, €1.40, and €2, respectively.
All four stamps have been designed by Daniel Spiteri.
