One month until autumn! Here are 5 ways to make the most of Malta’s late summer
The countdown to autumn begins!

The period after Santa Marija tends to bring a slight slump for summer lovers in Malta. Students and teachers alike are gearing up for the new school year, and the countdown to autumn begins. The long, carefree days of summer may be winding down, but the shift in season can also be an opportunity for new experiences and fresh energy. Why not embrace this period of change?

Here are five ways to make the most of the last month of summer in Malta:

1. Pick up a new hobby

It could be painting, cooking, or learning a musical instrument or – if you want to make the most of the remaining summer heat – kayaking or SUP yoga. Social media groups like Kayaking in Malta and Gozo are a great place to start. A fresh hobby can give your days new purpose, and you might just discover a hidden talent.

2. Join a volunteer group

Giving back to your community is rewarding in more ways than one. Meet like-minded people while contributing to a cause you care about. Take a look at this list and see whether any particular causes speak to you, or give it a one-off try with a beach clean-up.

3. Plan outdoor adventures

Take advantage of Malta’s milder weather for hikes, coastal walks, or camping trips. There are plenty of established trails and campsites where you can enjoy nature responsibly – follow this guide prepared by the Malta Ranger Unit to ensure you don’t disturb the wildlife surrounding you.

4. Savour quiet(er) moments

Enjoy sunsets over less crowded beaches, explore hidden spots, or simply take some solo time to reflect, recharge, and maybe enjoy a good book!

5. Look forward to autumn

From festivals to Halloween to a change in scenery, the approaching season brings its own sense of freshness and excitement – lean into it!
