Malta & Gozo’s main shopping destinations for a dose of retail therapy
You’ll find everything you could possibly need, or want, in these areas on the islands.

Sliema

Arguably Malta’s shopping capital, the central town of Sliema is a shopping mecca with the most varied range of shops. Featuring two large shopping malls, The Plaza and The Point, as well as a number of main streets lined with shops of all kinds, you’ll find anything you could possibly need in this bustling town.

Valletta

Republic Street, which runs right through Valletta, is a pedestrian zone with a wealth of shops on both sides, as is Merchants Street, parallel to it. Look out for The Embassy Shopping Complex on St Lucy Street, as well as a number of adjacent shopping streets including St John’s Street and Melita Street, where you’ll likely discover a few hidden gems.

St Julian’s

St Julian’s is home to some of the most upmarket shops on the island, selling the most luxurious designer brands in men’s and women’s fashion and accessories. Bay Street Shopping Complex meanwhile houses a wealth of retailers, and enjoys the longest opening hours all year round, from 10am to 10pm.

Victoria, Gozo

While you shouldn’t head to Gozo JUST for the shopping, you should add it to your itinerary if you’re in the capital, Victoria. Equipped with Arkadia Commercial Centre and The Duke Shopping Mall along the route to the city centre, as well as a selection of shops in between, you’ll find a host of familiar designer names for a quick spot of shopping.

Mosta

Less popular than the aforementioned but also worth a visit is the town centre of Mosta, which is home to a selection of shops along Constitution Street and its many side roads. Pama Shopping Village, as well as Pama Supermarket, are conveniently located on the outskirts of Mosta at the very centre of the island, with ample space for parking and various lunching options.

Bugibba

Particularly popular during the summer months, Bugibba’s promenade and piazza have plenty to offer, including a good number of souvenir shops which sell almost anything, including sun screen, swimming noodles, wet shoes, sunglasses, hats and more, and always come in handy before hitting the beach.

Other notable areas

There are plenty of other towns and villages worth exploring for a dose of shopping, but with a smaller selection on offer. Among them are Main Street Shopping Complex in Paola as well as the town centre, High Street in Hamrun and Valley Road in Birkirkara, all of which offer a selection of high street brands and local boutiques. Happy shopping!
