There are many beautiful things in life and food is pretty high on the list. Indeed, the umami flavour of many dishes can even surpass some of the greatest feelings experienced by human beings. And, a good roast can elicit such responses, giving you the best foodgasm you’ll ever have in your life. Here are 4 of Malta's top spots where you can fill your belly on a lazy Sunday.

Manouche

First on our list, Manouche is a bistro and bakery which has elevated its menu with a superb Sunday roast set to give you a supreme dining experience with its tender meat options, crisp pommes frites and gorgeous bread, fresh from their in-house bakery. Could this get any better? Well, yes, it could…you could end your meal with an artisanal sweet - possibly an eclair or a divine tart, all made by the talented chefs at this French-inspired eatery.

The Dubliner

If it’s a pub dinner you’re after, The Dubliner will sort you out and give you a mind-blowing experience! Roast meat - beef, pork or chicken - Yorkshire puds, roasties, side veggies and a pint of your favourite draught are all on offer here. Oh wait! And gravy! Lots of it. Here, they’ll sort you out with lashings of the stuff - perfect to soak your Yorkshire puddings in!

Diar il-Bniet

Diar il-Bniet is known for its excellent take on Maltese classics. From ross il-forn, kusksu and stuffed marrows to bragoli, octopus stew and fried rabbit - these guys know exactly what they’re doing in that kitchen! A Maltese roast is one to savour, with the succulent choice of meat a highlight of the meal together with Maltese roast potatoes, which are one of a kind, especially if they’re cooked in meat drippings and lapped up with a slice of fresh Maltese bread.

Tal-Familja

Fish feast in mind? Tal-Familja is your best bet! A Sunday classic for many Maltese families and rightfully so, fish can bind a family together. And, the menu here is spectacular, their fish is fresh and it is always prepared to perfection. Their sides are also damn good - talk about the crispiest onion bits you’ll ever find on the island. Magic! Pure magic!
