Local shares photos of VERY flooded Birzebbuga & appeals for something to be done
Till then, perhaps best avoided.

In Malta, when it rains it pours – to say the least. And yesterday was a case in point... a day of non-stop rain, switching between drizzles and heavy downpour, so it’s no wonder that a lot of water gathered in the streets. But one town in Malta has it particularly bad.

Yesterday, local Charles Falzon snapped these photos of a part of Birzebbuga which was flooded with rain and sea water.

The road is covered with water, almost up to the central strips. Charles reveals that this happens often due to the sea level at this bay and not only when it rains heavily, although it becomes a bigger issue when it does.

“Something needs to happen because it is getting worse and worse,” he says. And we can only imagine what this flooding does to the area, passers-by and cars attempting to pass through here. It’s not sure whether the situation has been resolved so until then, Birzebbugians: time to bring out those wellies!
