Local healthcare worker reassures Covid-19 patients through beautiful & heartfelt poem
It's a weary time for everyone

Caroline Curmi

A local healthcare worker has taken to Facebook to share a heartfelt poem to reassure patients struck with Coronavirus.

The poem, written on behalf of medical staff, reveals the consequences felt by both patients and healthcare workers: "We fear you, as much as we fear for you. You fear us, as much as you need us. We'd love to hold your hands and take our time, but there are constant voices in our heads telling us not to," it reads.

It also highlights the sacrifices being made by both parties: "You long to be with your loved ones, as much as we long to be with ours. Your hands are bruised. Ours too, because it's the tenth time we're washing them in the past hour."

A humane element shines through: "We can see you're scared. We can see you're lonely. And we're sorry at times we can't give you more than a smile, whenever masks don't take that from us too," it continues.

The poem continues to reassure patients and shares a hopeful message: "So you see, we have more things in common than we think. Let's hope for better times, whenever that may be. Yours truly, One of many," it concludes.

The post has gained traction online, with over 50 Facebook shares at the time of writing.

This too shall pass - thank you to all healthcare workers keeping us safe!
