Listen up, lovers! Here are some of the most romantic spots in Malta and Gozo for a sunset walk
Some spots to hold hands with your special someone.

With Valentine’s Day almost upon us, you might be trying to think of a good place to take your special someone – whether it’s the love of your life, someone you fancy, or even a best friend that you can’t live without. We’ve got you sorted – Malta and Gozo are full of breathtaking places to watch the sun dip below the Mediterranean horizon. Here are some of the best spots:

Dingli Cliffs – The dramatic view

One of the island’s most iconic sunset vantage points, the cliffs on the southwest coast of Malta offer expansive, uninterrupted views out to sea. A walk along the cliff’s edge at dusk is quite the experience – particularly if it remains this windy!

Xlendi Bay – Gozo’s waterfront walk

Xlendi’s pretty bay, hugged by steep cliffs and dotted with colourful boats, is one of Gozo’s go-to sunset spots. A promenade walk here as the sky changes colour makes for a simple evening together that costs zero euros!

Ta’ Ċenċ and Sanap Cliffs – Gozo’s gentle giants

For a more secluded sunset walk during which you might steal a kiss or two, head to the southern cliffs of Gozo. Both Ta’ Ċenċ and nearby Sanap Cliffs reward you with panoramic views for days.

Golden Bay & Għajn Tuffieħa – Classic beach sundown

On Malta’s northwest coast, these neighbouring west-facing beaches are ideal for a gentle trek followed by golden hour magic. It might get chilly, so pack a blanket and take the opportunity to cuddle up close! Of course, if it gets very windy, you’ll want to give this option a miss.

Wied iz-Żurrieq – Coastal views and caves

Closer to the south of Malta, this rugged coastal area near Blue Grotto offers both dramatic cliffs and peaceful (or dramatic, depending on how rough the waves are) sea views.

Mdina – Sunset on the Silent City

For something a little different, wander the quiet lanes of the Silent City as dusk approaches, then head to one of the bastions for sweeping views over the island as the light fades. Make your romance feel as historical as your surroundings!

Tal-Mixta Cave & Ramla Bay – Gozo’s romantic red sands

Overlooking Gozo’s famous red-sand (or golden, depending on your eye’s palette) beach, this small cave lookout offers a framed view of Ramla Bay at sunset – ideal if you want to whisper sweet nothings into your lover’s ear with an incredible view.

Wherever you decide to go, make sure to arrive about 30 minutes before sunset to enjoy the changing light that can be just as magical at the sunset itself. You’ll want to wear some comfy shoes, and to complete the outing – pack a small picnic, a bottle of local wine, or a camera - your companion will undoubtedly appreciate it!

How will you be celebrating Valentine's Day?
