For nearly five weeks, Balzunetta Streets in Floriana have been blacked out, with residents not being able to safely leave their homes at night. Minority leader for the Floriana Local Council, James Aaron Ellul spoke out about the issue in a post on Facebook this morning.

“This is the situation in a number of Balzunetta streets in Florina,” he says, sharing blacked out photos of the area, noting that residents are “scared.”

“The right to feel safe at home has disappeared for these residents in the past weeks,” he continues. Ellul personally surveyed the area, also noting that contact has been made with various authorities who have given unsatisfactory answers to the problem.

“I have sent in solutions from my end, the ball is now in the authorities’ court to listen, sooner rather than later. Floriana deserves much better.”
