Malta is saying goodbye to the peak of summer and hello to the stickiest month of the year, September! While September is known to bring in some rainfall and humidity than its previous months, let’s take a look at what the weather typically looks like during this month.

From average temperatures to rainfall levels, here’s everything you need to know about typical September weather in Malta and Gozo.

Although September tends to be cooler than June, July and August, typical weather tends to be sunny, warm, and dry throughout the whole month.

Malta’s average highest temperature around this time hits 28°C while it drops down to a 24°C average during the night.

The sea temperatures average at around 26°C, which means that it’s slightly cooler than August but still perfect for a refreshing dip, scuba diving, and snorkelling at some of the best snorkel spots in the world.

While some September stay completely dry, others have thundery downpours on scattered days throughout the month. The average rainfall throughout the month of September is that of 24mm, divided across eight rainy days.

Visitors to Malta will be able to enjoy 11 hours of daylight and 10 hours of sunshine every day during the month of August.

The average daily humidity is 73% which is quite high for this time of year and the air is usually the driest at the beginning of September.
