Visitors planning a trip to Valletta are being advised of a temporary closure at two of Malta’s most important heritage attractions.
Heritage Malta has announced that Fort St Elmo and the National War Museum will be closed to the public on Friday, 11th September 2026. The closure means visitors hoping to explore the historic fort and its extensive military collection will need to plan their visit for another day.
There is, however, an alternative for those hoping to visit the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum on the same date. Last-minute tickets for the prehistoric underground site can be purchased from the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta.
Heritage Malta has apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked visitors for their understanding.
