Keeping up with Karly! 10 things you didn't know about model and activist Karly May
Fabulous facts!

Nicole Parnis

We're big Karly Naudi fangirls here at GuideMeMalta, and love to see what outfits she pulls together and which new designers she's rocking!

But apart from her fierce diva-like looks on the catwalk or on magazine spreads, when she's not attending glitzy events, the compassionate model and activist is a self-confessed chocoholic who likes nothing more than chilling out with a movie or hanging out with family.

We caught up with Karly to ask a few questions and get to know a little bit more about the lovely lady behind the looks! Here's what she had to share with GuideMeMalta!

1. Where would you love to travel to most and why?

Japan, since I've always been fascinated by their culture, mostly after reading the book 'Memoirs of a Geisha' in my teenage years. Moreover, the landscape and villages look stunning!

2. Do you have any hidden talents?

When I was a child I loved drawing, and looking back at some of the art that my mum kept, I must say that my art skills were on point. Regretfully growing up I gave up on that and nowadays the only art I practice is make-up, but once I graduate, I would like to start practicing again.

3. What is your favourite piece of clothing that you own?

I don't have a favourite piece per se. I do have some of my mum's old clothes and a ring she passed on to me that belonged to my grandmother which holds sentimental value. In my day-to-day life I always opt for comfort, which is why I love glamming up for events! My winter essentials are scarves, and maxi dresses for summer.

4. What is your earliest memory?

Running around the roof of my childhood home in my mother's heeled boots. This memory is accompanied by a sense of happiness and freedom that only the innocence of childhood can give.

5. What is your all-time favourite film?

I loved Gone with the Wind and Scarlett O'Hara as a movie character growing up, but later found out that the film portrayed very old-fashioned notions of class and race. I was disappointed that my childhood favourite was deceiving but think it's very important to be aware of these things and learn constantly.

A movie I could watch repeatedly is Mean Girls since I believe that throughout our lives we all have been on both sides of the coin. Its message that putting others down doesn’t make you any better, and that kindness is a key aspect of life are themes that are now more relevant than ever.

6. Who were your favourite group or singers when you were a child?

Spice Girls without a doubt! My room was covered in their posters and my dad could have killed me for ruining the walls with blue-tack!

7. Who are you closest to?

My mother, who is my everyday hero because she's been there for me through thick and thin. Even if we have our differences, if a day goes by where I don't visit or we don't speak on the phone, she tells me she's not heard from me in ages, even if I text her good morning every single day!

8. What is your biggest dream?

The ability and resources to empower and help people who are struggling. The idea of my social pages was born out of that ideal, that through my platform and my own experience I could help and inspire others who are going through a tough time.

9. What do you like best about yourself?

My resilience, because through all the phases of my life there have been ups and downs, but thankfully even if at times it was painful for me and for those around me, I've always managed to get through it all, stronger and wiser than before.

10. What superpower would you choose to have?

I would like to have the power to make someone walk a mile in someone’s else’s shoes, so as to increase the sense of compassion, forgiveness and empathy which would hopefully result in a more peaceful society.

Thank You Karly! We're looking forward to seeing what you get up to next!
