The post-Santa-Marija blues may be hitting hard right now, but Malta and Gozo are still buzzing with activities and events to make the most of the sunny season. From festivals, art exhibitions, live music and other cultural happenings, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy the last week of August. 

Here’s your guide to the events you won’t want to miss between 22nd and 31st August, so you can soak up the sun, fun, and local spirit before September rolls in.

Friday 22nd August

NEON MUSIC BINGO

An unforgettable night filled with great tunes, dancing, and guaranteed fun at Teatru Blue Arena in Żabbar.

Saturday 23rd August

Rock in the Forest

A night of powerful anthems and unforgettable vibes at Chateau Buskett in Rabat.

Rock for Richmond

A night of live performances by some of the best local bands and artists at Ġnien l-Għarusa tal-Mosta, all in aid of the Richmond Foundation. 

Green Velvet

The house music legend lands in Malta for one unforgettable night at Gianpula Main Room.

Wednesday 27th August

Joe Cocker Tribute

Former Malta Eurovision representative William Mangion pays homage to the legendary British singer Joe Cocker at Pjazza Teatru Rjal in Valletta.

Jazzin' It

An open-air performance that's part of the Ċitadella Arts Festival (Gozo) featuring one of Malta's leading jazz musicians, Adrian (ir-Russu) Brincat on trumpet, joined by Alan Portelli on bass and Alex Debono on drums.

Life Imitates Art

An evening with the band Chasing Pandora at Villa Rundle Gardens in Victoria, Gozo. 

Friday 29th August

Żurrieq Summer Fest 2025

A night of music, energy, and dancing as Music Bliss Events proudly presents the first edition of Żurrieq Summer Fest, all in aid of Dar Bjorn, supporting ALS Malta.

André Rieu - Live in Concert 2025 (also on 30th August)

The popular violinist André Rieu returns to Malta, performing at the Granaries in Floriana.

Sunday 31st August

Clara Calleja & Band

Emerging musical artist Clara joined by a group of talented Maltese musicians: Aleandro Spiteri Monsigneur, Louie Farrugia, Daniel Micallef, Katrina Demarco, and Mikhail Farrugia, performing at Vincent's Eco Estate in Mġarr.

Viennese Visions

Michael Laus takes on the dual role of conductor and soloist with the MPO in Mozart’s Piano Concerto in A, a captivating work embodying graceful lyricism and Classical elegance, performed at the Robert Samut Hall in Floriana.

Festivals

Friday 22nd August

Tolkien Fest (also on 23rd and 24th)

A laid-back gathering where Tolkien fans can come together to share food, good company and a common interest at Teatru Salesjan in Sliema.

Karnival tas-Sajf 2025 (also on 23rd and 24th)

Enjoy lively Carnival celebrations in Buġibba and Marsaskala.

Gozo Film Festival 2025 (also on 23rd and 24th)

A weekend of stories brought to life on the big screen at the Cittadella in Gozo.

Saturday 23rd August

Game Fest

An epic celebration of all things tabletop - from boardgames to magic battles - at the Valletta Design Cluster.

Minn Pjazza għal Pjazza - Qrendi

Guided tours, music, food, videos, children's games, and more, all designed to bring the rich history and beauty of Qrendi to life.

Flames of Glory

A captivating fire show synchronised to music, complete with the traditional burning of the bonfire, on the eve of the Feast of Santa Marija in Mġarr.

Thursday 28th August

Sustainably Yours Eco Festival (runs till 31st August)

An eco market that brings together over 30 stalls filled with environmentally conscious souvenirs, gifts, and artisanal products at the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta.

PINTA Beer Festival 2025 (runs till 31st August)

Four nights celebrating over 300 beers and craft beers from local producers and international importers at Laparelli Gardens in Valletta.

Minn Pjazza għal Pjazza - Imtarfa

An evening that celebrates community, culture, and everyday life in the village of Mtarfa.

Performance & Cinema

Saturday 23rd August

Saturday Comedy

The very first of the monthly Saturday Comedy series, a women-led showcase where improv, stand-up, and skit comedians of all experience levels take the spotlight. Takes place at Spritz Social Den in Gżira.

Cinema Under The Stars

An evening of open-air cinema in the stunning historic gardens of Villa Bologna in Attard.

Monday 25th August

The Little Mermaid (also on the 26th)

A magical musical adventure performed by a talented cast of young stars at the Villa Rundle Amphitheatre in Victoria, Gozo.

Thursday 28th August

ĠAĦAN (runs till 31st August)

A historic production of Ġaħan, an adaptation of Binġemma's il-Ġaħan, by Teatru Malta at Fort St. Elmo, Valletta.

Friday 29th August

Film Taħt l-Istillel Tal-Ġnien

A cosy summer night watching a movie beneath the open sky in Santa Venera.

Markets & Exhibitions

Sunday 24th August

Malta Artisan Markets: Summer Market at Mercury

A market bringing a curated selection of talented artisans, designers, and makers under one roof, at Mercury in St Julian's.

KÁLLOS (runs till 14th September)

An exhibition by Clint Scerri Harkins at Mqabba's Kamra ta' Fuq.

8 September: The First National Day (runs till 14th September)

A reflection on three formative historical events for the Maltese nation: the end of the Great Siege in 1565, the capitulation of the French in 1800, and the declaration of Italy’s armistice in the Second World War in 1943. On display in the Throne Room at the Grand Master's Palace, Valletta.
