Keep that umbrella out! Stormy weather across Malta expected to continue into the weekend
Last night's light show in the sky will probably reprise on Sunday!

Malta and Gozo were treated to quite the dramatic light show last night, as flashes of lightning illuminated the skies and thunder rolled across the islands. And it looks like the unsettled weather is here to stay – at least for a few more days.

According to Maltese Islands Weather, today (Wednesday, 15th October) will continue to bring chances of rain and isolated thunderstorms, lasting into Thursday morning.

While Friday 17th and Saturday 18th October are forecast to be mostly cloudy with only a low chance of rain, the calm may not last for long. Sunday 19th October is shaping up to be another stormy day, with a 65% chance of rain and potentially heavy downpours – between 12mm and 30mm of rainfall expected.

Easterly winds will continue to sweep across the islands, reaching up to Force 5 on the Beaufort scale, and are expected to persist until Monday. The start of the new week should see conditions easing, though more rain — between 3mm and 12mm — may still fall before skies finally clear.

After an unusually dry September, October is certainly making up for lost time, although the rain hasn’t been falling evenly across the islands!

Are you hoping for another stormy day?

15th October 2025
