Incredible! Do you remember Malta like this? Sliema’s Tower Road is one of the most popular roads of the seaside town that has seen quite the drastic change over time. It’s always known as one of the busiest streets with the front right along the coast. And these stunning vintage shots.
The first photo featured was one originally taken by well-known photographer Richard Ellis and show quite a different scene to what we are used to now. Two-storey houses existed along the front back in the day, with short trees along the pavement, with this particular part being at Exiles looking towards Old College Street. The houses, replaced by towering flats today, were “lovely o look at” according to locals.

The second photo shared takes us further back in time, as the very first cars can be spotted as well as donkey-drawn carts along the road. Beautifully architecture two-storey townhouses still stood, but it seems that one thing hasn’t changed – and that is the love for walking along the Sliema front.
