Despite arguments for and against, the much debated underwater tunnel connecting the islands of Malta and Gozo is a go! Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Clint Camilleri announced the news just this morning, in a tweet confirming that an “international call” for tenders for the Malta-Gozo tunnel project will be issued in the next 6 months.
So it would certainly seem that we're getting closer to this becoming a reality…whether we like it or not! The tunnel would mean faster travel times (and maybe free passage – keep your fingers crossed!) between Malta and Gozo – we can just whizz through (literally) the deep blue! However, Gozo Channel and the fishies living between the islands might not be so happy!
