The search is extended to include anyone employed by Connaught Hospital, a.k.a. Vilhena Palace, between the '20s and '50s
A black and white photo of the medical staff at Connaught Hospital in Mdina was recently shared via Facebook by the National Museum of Natural History. The name Connaught Hospital may be unfamiliar to most, having closed down in 1956 after almost a century of near-constant operation, but it is the subject of an investigation by the National Museum of Natural History.
“As part of our work for a new display, we are looking into the historical aspects of the palace, therefore we would greatly appreciate any information on any of the staff (Doctors, nurses, cooks, etc),” reads the museum’s Facebook post.
The hospital, which used the Vilhena Palace in Mdina as its premises, now houses the National Museum of Natural History. The photo in question is believed to have been captured sometime between 1920 and 1950 and features some, if not all, of Connaught Hospital’s medical staff in employment at the time.
