It’s been six months since the Hamrun tragedy in which Miriam Pace, loving wife and mother lost her life as her house collapsed in the next-door construction site. Carmel Pace, Miriam’s husband spoke out in a heart-breaking post after “hearing nothing more” about the investigation.

“The request to open a public inquiry was ignored,” Carmel shares, hoping that after an incident where a person lost her life, no partisan elements seep in. “However, like thunder that keeps echoing till it fades into nothing, your loss dear Miriam has too been worth nothing,” he shares, noting that all the promises made have turned to smoke.

“It’s obvious that your children and I keep and will keep mourning your loss,” he continues, addressing his wife. “I still cry over your grave when I visit. Moments come where I ask if this tragedy actually happened. However, I quickly realised how this all turned out.”

“I no longer have the person that was everything to me. I no longer have the best memories of my life. I no longer have my home. I no longer have clothes. And I ended up having to go to court to take back what they destroyed. I am mentally broken.”

Carmel asks “our dear angel” to put in a good word with holy beings to stop this pain the family is suffering every day. “I look forward to one day meeting you and hugging you again. Love you Mir.”
